Dazzling Dinner and Dance Themes You Will Surely Love

The exciting and highly anticipated annual dinner and dance is considered a milestone event by most companies. After all, it is when employees and management come together to celebrate the company’s achievements and accomplishments. This much-awaited event can often take months to plan.

Dinner and dance organisers can make planning this type of event look easy. One of the first things organisers decide on is the event’s theme. This decision can help determine the venue styling as well as the programme. Dinner and dance organisers will also use the theme to determine the type of costumes guests should turn up in.

If you are in the process of brainstorming dinner and dance themes for your event, below are some of the most dazzling ideas you should consider:

Masquerade

If you are a fan of the classics, you can never go wrong with masquerade. This idea is also great for venues with nice exteriors (i.e., white colonial buildings). If the dinner and dance will be held indoors, ensure you have the floors and walls covered in red. It would also be a fun idea to require guests to wear masks that match the color of their outfits.

The Oscars

This is one event that will surely bring the glitz and glamor to your event. A good color scheme to play around with would be gold and silver. Of course, it won’t mimic an Oscars event without a giant Oscars trophy as your centerpiece. You can top everything off with a red carpet to make for a grand entrance.

Hawaiian

If you want a more casual feel, Hawaiian would be the perfect fit. Since most consider Hawaii as the perfect vacation destination, prepare some leaf skirts and flower necklaces to get everyone in the zone. You can also add some seashells as decoration and take inspiration from Hawaiian movies to make everything appear more exciting.

Las Vegas

If you want a theme that’s fun, playful, and sexy, a Las Vegas theme would be a great idea. To bring the spirit of the gambling city to life, make sure to include the iconic green and red from Russian roulette. You can also design your poker chips to add more fun to the event.

The Great Gatsby

Want a classy theme that highlights the spirit of wealth? The Great Gatsby would be perfect. Take inspiration from the roaring 20s and create statement pieces that define the era including Moet & Chandon champagne bottles, black suits, low back dresses, and even Daisy’s pearl necklace. You can also play jazz to complete the ambiance.

Pink Party

As the name implies, this event goes all pink. Pick pink hues from cotton candy to create a subtle and sweet atmosphere or go for a dimly lit pink to create a punk vibe. This theme will work best for color-significant events like the Pink Dot or Breast Cancer Awareness month.

Bohemian

If you want something that’s otherworldly and unconventional, opt for outdoor event spaces. Bohemian themed dinner and dance are a favorite because of the stunning aesthetics. Exude a spirit of freedom by having the event in an open space like fields or by the shore where you will hear the sounds of crashing waves.

Toga Night

This is a favorite among lovers of Greek mythology. If you have watched the movie 300 or Hercules, this is something that will surely catch your fancy. What makes this theme great is the uniformity of the outfits. Everyone will likely come in white sheets and sandals and maybe a few laurel wreaths thrown in.

Great Dinner and Dance Games You Can Try

It can be frustrating when the DJ has put together a great music mix and everyone just sits around and just looks at one another. Fortunately, an experienced dinner and dance organiser can help ensure everyone is up on their feet and having the best time. Below are some of the exciting games, dinner and dance organisers swear by:

Snowball

This is an exciting icebreaker for any dance and dinner event as it works for people of all ages. Here’s how it works:

  1. Two team members will begin the dance.
  2. The host or DJ will stop the music and shout “Snowball!”
  3. The dancing team will split up and each will select a new partner and bring their new partners to the floor and dance.
  4. The DJ will shout “Snowball” again and the four people dancing will split from their partners and grab new partners, guide them to the dance floor and continue dancing.
  5. Each time the word “Snowball” is repeated, the current partners will split and find new partners until everyone is on the dance floor.

As the game rolls out, you can also change the music frequently. It would also be best to choose fast songs everyone can dance to.

Balloon Stomp

This is another great game for people of all ages. It can also be a great option for birthday parties, family reunions, and New Year’s Eve celebrations. It would be best for participants to take off their shoes for this game as popping off balloons without shoes is more challenging. Here’s how it works:

  1. Each participant will get one ribbon tied with a ribbon (at least 36 inches in length).
  2. Have the participants tie the ribbon to one of their ankles.
  3. When everyone is ready, have them move to the dance floor.
  4. When the music starts, everyone should start dancing. At the same time, everyone should stop on and attempt to pop someone else’s balloon while protecting their balloon from being popped.
  5. The last person with the intact balloon will be considered the winner.

Tag the Table

This game would be great for people of all ages so this game would be great for reunions, anniversary parties, holiday parties, and other events. To set this up, place a tent care on each of the tables and label them with dance names (i.e., Electric Slide, Cha Cha, Twist, etc.)

When the DJ calls out the name of the dance, everyone at the table gets up and dances at their seats. Here’s how it works:

  1. The DJ initiates a dance off between tables.
  2. The DJ can also call tables out onto the dance floor for the dance off.
  3. The DJ will call “freeze” while a table is dancing. If they move, they will be out of the game. This strategy can also add an element of competition.

If a large group is in attendance, you can keep things more interesting (and moving) by giving the same dance to two (or more) tables. Have the tables with the same dance labels dance and compete against each other.

If you want to use specific songs for the challenges, ensure you have those tunes ready to go. This is where the help of a great DJ can come in handy. Music like YMCA, Macarena, Twist, etc. would be great examples of songs that would work for this type of game.

Final Thoughts

To ensure the crowd stays on their feet, make sure to play popular music once the games are done. Doing so can also help ensure the guests and participants are more enticed to stay on the floor and continue dancing.
